She was Counsellor in the Intellectual Property Division of the WTO and served as Secretary to the Special Session of the Council for TRIPS (multilateral register of geographical indications for wines and spirits). She was active, inter alia, in technical cooperation activities.

 

From 1986 to 2000, she was deputy-head and head of the Department of International Affairs of the Swiss Federal Intellectual Property Institute. She represented Switzerland in IP negotiations and discussions at bilateral level and in various multilateral fora, e.g. WIPO, WTO, WHO, FAO, CBD, UNCTAD, UNEP, UNESCO and EFTA.

 

She was deputy head of the Swiss TRIPS negotiating team in the Uruguay Round and in charge of the implementation of the TRIPS provisions into the Swiss domestic law, and of the relevant part of the Federal Council (government) report to the Federal Parliament.

 

From 1976 to 1986, she served as Legal Officer and Principal Legal Officer in the Industrial Property Division of WIPO. Prior to this, she served as a junior assistant in a Swiss trademark agent bureau specialized in the filing of trademark applications and of market authorization applications in the area of pharmaceuticals.
