On 11th January 2022, the Friends of Multilateralism Group (FMG) organized an online brainstorming session based on the article “Arriving at an equitable response to the pandemic” authored by Pradeep S. Mehta and Sneha Singh of Consumer Unity & Trust Society (CUTS International).
Pradeep S. Mehta, founder Secretary General of CUTS International shared his thoughts on the possible ways forward to address the inequity in COVID-19 vaccine distribution. Chad Bown, senior fellow at Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE), and Simon Evenett, FMG member and Professor of international trade and economic development at the University of St. Gallen shared their comments as discussants. Mario Matus, FMG member and former Ambassador of Chile to the WTO moderated this session.
Over 60 participants joined the brainstorming, including members of FMG, Friends of FMG and Punta del Este Group (PEG), Ambassadors/DPRs of WTO members, and representatives from related international organization and think tanks.
