On 2nd July, 2026, the Friends of Multilateralism Group (FMG) organized FMG Webinar on Global Imbalance and WTO Reform. Bernard Hoekman, FMG Member, Professor at the European University Institute in Florence, moderated the meeting.
At the meeting, Sébastien Jean, Professor of Economics at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (CNAM), Member of the French Council of Economic Advisers and the National Productivity Council presented his paper “Global imbalances, industrial policies, and the challenge of surging Chinese trade surpluses” (https://cepr.org/chapters/global-imbalances-industrial-policies-and-challenge-surging-chinese-trade-surpluses),and answered questions from the audience.
Over 50 participants joined the session, including members of FMG, Ambassadors/DPRs of WTO members, representatives from related international organizations, and experts from renowned think tanks and universities etc.
