Ms. Janet Macharia is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya who is passionate about international trade and investment law.

Ms. Janet Macharia is a lawyer licensed to practice in Kenya. She is passionate about international economic law. She holds a Masters Degree in International Economic Law from the Academy of International Law and Policy (AIELPO) in Athens, Greece. Ms. Janet is a Teaching Fellow at Strathmore Law School, where she teaches International Trade Law, E-commerce and the Law and Company Law. She also trains and coaches law students in competitions relating to International Trade and Investment Law. Ms. Janet also currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Trade Negotiations and Investment Forum headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya.

Ms. Janet has done research and presented papers on topics relating to the African Continental Free Trade Area IP Protocol as well as EU-EAC Economic Partnership Agreements. Her current area of research is Special Economic Zones (particularly subsidies which different governments maintain) within the African Continental Free Trade Area.
