On June 30, 2022, the Friends of Multilateralism Group (FMG) organized a dialogue with key capitals (Brussels) to discuss what future does the EU see for the WTO and how does this relate to the direction of its trade policy. Stuart Harbinson, FMG Board Member and Former Chief Representative of HK China to the WTO moderated this session.
Ignacio Garcia Bercero, Director in charge of Multilateral Affairs, Strategy, Analysis and Evaluation at DG Trade in the European Commission; Cecilia Malmstrom, FMG member and Former European Trade Commissioner; and Iana Dreyer, the Founder and Editor of borderlex.net, the leading independent publication on trade policy in Europe shared their insights on these important issues, and then answered the questions from the participants. Over 50 participants attended this session, including members of FMG/FFMG, Ambassadors/DPRs of WTO members, and representatives from related international organizations and think tanks.
