4On December 6, 2024, the Friends of Multilateralism Group (FMG) organized a webinar on US Presidential Election and WTO Reform. Mercedes Araoz, FMG Board Member and former Vice-President and Prime Minister of Peru moderated this webinar.

 

At the meeting, Alan Wolff, distinguished visiting fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics and former Deputy Director-General of the WTO; Ignacio Garcia Bercero, former Director responsible for the areas of Sustainable Development, Bilateral Trade Relations at the European Commission; Xinquan Tu, Dean and Professor of the China Institute for WTO Studies of University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) shared their insights on the recent US election, its impacts on the WTO reform and the next steps. Then, the panelists answered questions from participants.

 

Over 60 participants joined the session, including members of FMG, Ambassadors/DPRs of WTO members, representatives from related international organizations, and experts from renowned think tanks and universities etc.
