On 20 Nov 2025, FMG organized a webinar based on the WTO Publication “Trade For Peace: Pathways To Sustainable Trade And Peace”. This session was moderated by Axel Addy, FMG member, former Minister of Commerce and Industry of Liberia, and also one of the contributors to the publication.
At this session, Roberta Piermartini, Chief of Applied Economic Research at the WTO introduced this publication, then Serge Stroobants Director of Europe and the MENA region and the Global Director for Security, Defence and Intelligence at the Institute for Economics and Peace, and Simon Evenett FMG member and Professor of Geopolitics and Strategy at IMD shared their insights on the relations between trade and peace, the potential of the multilateral trading system to support peace-building efforts in fragile and conflict-affected settings etc.
Nearly 40 participants joined the session, including members of FMG, Ambassadors/DPRs of WTO members, representatives from related international organizations, and experts from renowned think tanks and universities etc.
